NBA coach Lethal Shooter said ‘If it wasn’t for music, Rick Ross would have been a good basketball player’ when playing with Rozay

Lethal Shooter, a well-known NBA shooting instructor, tells TMZ Sports that Rick Ross would have become a fantastic basketball player if it weren’t for his love of music. Working with the “Hustlin'” artist earlier this month, Lethal—real name Chris Matthews—came to the conclusion before he had to take a private aircraft to Las Vegas.

After spending nearly an hour with the celebrity, Matthews remarked that Ross might have been “elite” on the court if he had chosen basketball instead hip hop. Matthews was so impressed with Ross’ work ethic. Matthews described Ross as having “done no time to waste as soon as he got out of the car.” “He wanted to get in shape. He paused only twice. He desired knowledge.”

Naturally, Matthews refrained from claiming that Ross’s NBA career would have resulted from his decision to choose basketball at an early age, but he did clarify to us that the 47-year-old could have succeeded as a collegiate hooper if he so desired. “I feel like people don’t realize Rick Ross is pretty tall and anything that somebody put their mind to, they’re capable of,” Matthews stated.

“What I saw from somebody, the age that he’s at, that he was learning so fast I think he could’ve been capable at a young age to play at an elite level as far as high school and college.” Having taught several celebrities over the years, Matthews knows a thing or two about A-listers with hoops skills. He informed us that players like Future and Mark Cuban had some underappreciated skills.

“When I was training Mark Cuban a few months back,” Matthews recalled, “I felt like you can tell at a young age he was one of those guys that was always gonna bring it on defense, always gonna bring the intensity.” The 38-year-old is constantly giving back to his hometown of Washington, D.C., informing us that he recently donated $18K to three different schools in the DMV area. When he’s not assisting celebrities with their jump shoots. “The biggest thing I wanna do is to continue to give back to my community,” he stated, “and to show other kids where I’m from you can make it as well.”
