Being a performer entails extended periods spent away from home and family, confined to movie trailers while mingling with film crews, producers, and creative minds. It also necessitates a nomadic lifestyle, which can become draining over time, as countless actors have shared.
Enter Anderson Mobile Estates, a U.S. RV company dedicated exclusively to the most discerning clients with substantial financial means, striving to provide them with a genuine home on wheels. Nowadays, Anderson Mobile Estates is synonymous with bespoke designs, opulent preferences, and the most extravagant interiors, all of which originated from a motorhome fittingly dubbed The Heat.
The Heat represents Will Smith’s movie trailer and marked the company’s inaugural high-profile project. Initially, the Anderson family managed Star Trax Celebrity Coaches, a business established in 1987. In 1999, they sold the company and embarked on a sabbatical that involved sailing worldwide. This journey ultimately inspired them to create the world’s most extraordinary land yachts.
Their first creation was The Studio, which caught Smith’s eye and captured his admiration. Customized to his preferences, it transformed into The Heat: a behemoth, two-story, 22-wheel motorhome that could easily put conventional mansions to shame. When initially revealed, it epitomized elegance and luxury. Today, it carries a slightly dated feel, rendering terms like “sleek” and “modern” obsolete. Nevertheless, it remаins one of the most remarkable motorhomes ever crafted, whether owned by a celebrity or not.
With a price tag of $2.5M, it confidently ranks among the world’s most expensive motorhomes.
As far as our information goes, Smith still possesses The Heat. Much akin to a superyacht, when not in use, it’s available for rent, commanding a reported fee of $9,000 per week. For this sum, you gain access to a bona fide mobile mansion that expands into a substantial abode once stationary.
Designer Mackenzie Anderson elucidates in the HGTV Celebrity Motor Homes feature below that while four-slide-out motorhomes are not novel, Anderson Mobile Estates pioneered the concept of an expanding roof. Eight pistons elevate the roof by 42 inches (107 cm), crafting an upper level that houses amenities such as a 30-person screening room equipped with automatic shades and a 100-inch retractable screen, just to mention a couple. This room also serves as an office space.
The lower floor encompasses a complete kitchen fused with a dining area and lounge, along with an additional lounge that moonlights as a wardrobe for Smith during filming. The first lounge features a professional makeup station and, based on recent photos, a small office. The lavatory alone carries a $25,000 price tag, spanning the trailer’s entire width and incorporating a sauna shower and separate dry toilet, complete with a glass door that turns opaque with a button press.
Given that this is no ordinary motorhome, all doors operate automatically—referred to as Star Trek doors by the designer. They even emit a sound upon opening and closing. During the early 2000s, many believed Star Trek-style doors represented the “future.”
In total, The Heat, measuring 55 feet (16.7 meters) in length, boasts 1,200 square feet (111.5 square meters) of living space, brimming with the luxuries and amenities typically reserved for yachts, the original aspiration. These include $200,000 granite countertops throughout, $125,000 in cutting-edge technology and gadgets (with a grand total of 14 TVs), and $30,000 worth of genuine leather adorning the couches and even the ceilings. According to available information, The Heat lacks a dedicated bedroom.
