Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, and Nicole Shanahan, his former wife, bought a $13.5M Malibu mansion, one year before they divorced.
The transaction took place on September 17, 2020, which was six monthS. According to the documents filed in court, the two individuals parted ways on December 15, 2021.
A few weeks later, in January of this year, Brin formally submitted the necessary paperwork to begin the divorce process, alleging “irreconcilable differences.”
The identity of the purchaser had been a well guarded until this point. According to Dirt, however, the property with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms had been purchased through a covert limited liability company that was controlled by a San Francisco attorney who is well-known for maintaining a highly restricted client list.
2010 was the year that singer Pink was the previous owner of the property. It was her principal residence up until 2016, when she sold it to a French investment banker for the price of $11.9M. Matthieu Pigasse bought it.
Brin has joined a long list of other tech moguls who have established themselves in the 90265 ZIP code thanks to his location in Point Dume.
A number of notable people, including Marc Andreessen, the co-founder of WhatsApp, Jan Koum, and Laurene Powell Jobs, have acquired real estate in the neighborhood.

In the petition for divorce, neither the assets that Brin and Shanahan own jointly nor the manner in which they would be divided are disclosed. They instead assert that some do exist and that the specifics of which “are to be determined.”
According to documents filed with the Santa Clara County court, “All issues as to the property rights or obligations of the parties will be determined by confidential binding arbitration in accordance with a written agreement between the parties.”
