Old Chicago penthouse that belongs to Michael Jordan sells for sky-high prices

Michael Jordan formerly owned a penthouse in Chicago, which just sold for $6.82 мillion.

According to property records, the triplex condo was bought by the six-time NBA champion and his then-wife, Juanita Vanoy Jordan, in 1991 for just over $1 мillion. It was situated on Chicago’s famed Lake Shore Drive. Juanita, a real estate professional, sold it for $3.2 мillion in 2014 after the pair had divorced in 2006, according to records.

The 8,000 square foot apartment was most recently sold to an LLC in late May. Mansion Global was unable to identify the LLC’s owner.

Both of the sellers, who are employed in technology, were unavailable for comment.

According to listing data, the transaction is the third most expensive residential sale in the Chicago area this year. Compass acted as the sellers’ agent in the off-market transaction. The agency chose not to respond.

Details are limited because it was an off-market transaction. But according to archives, the 39th and 40th floor apartments were joined to create the penthouse. According to the 2014 listing, the four-bedroom, six-bathroom home has a rooftop balcony and views of Lake Michigan and the metropolitan skyline.

Additionally, there are four bars, a video room with a built-in humidor, polished porcelain floors, Rosewood walls, unique tile, and millwork throughout the entire space.

The NBA legend is also attempting to sell his more than 30,000 square foot Highland Park, Illinois mansion, which has been on the market for 10 years and includes a basketball court with a Jordan logo and a gated entry with the number 23 from his jersey. It was first put up for sale in 2012 for $29 мillion, and it is currently going for slightly under $15 мillion.
