A rapidly ascending 29-year-old British actor named Damson Idris purchased a recently renovated property in an affluent neighborhood in the highlands above Studio City, Los Angeles, for $3.85 million.
While opposite Kate Beckinsale in 2018, Idris co-starred in the underappreciated coming-of-age film “Farming” and the Netflix science fiction action thriller “Outside the Wire.” Idris ascended to prominence and financial success with the FX criminal thriller “Snowfall,” in which he portrayed an adolescent Los Angeles dealer. Next year, the fifth season of “Snowfall” will be produced by Idris.
Situated on a plateau extending over a quarter of an acre and tinged into a steep hillside, the two-story, five-bedroom, 4.5-bath residence is prominently displayed from the street. It is described in promotional materials as a “stunning Montecito modern residence” and features designer finishes, pale European oak flooring, and a cutting-edge home automation system that regulates lighting, sound, and security systems. Its 1964 construction has been significantly upgraded in recent years.
The open floor plan, which encompasses an area of slightly over 4,700 square feet, showcases a central hall entry that is flanked by formal living and dining rooms. The dining room is connected to the eat-in kitchen through an expansive butler’s pantry. The kitchen is elegant, featuring gleaming white surfaces and boldly veined black and white marble (or marble-like) countertops and gold-toned fixtures atop snow-white Shaker-style cabinetry. The garden is visible through a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows in the adjacent family room. Two of the four guest bedrooms feature a large Jack-and-Jill toilet, while the remaining two share a private bathroom. A tranquil mountain view, a spa-style tub, and a walk-in wardrobe are all featured in the master bedroom.
