Former President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was a poor boy who went from nothing to now owning big villa

A luxurious mansion in Potomac, Maryland, co-owned by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his fourth wife, Jennifer Douglas, has been auctioned. The property gained international attention in 2005 when the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) searched it in connection with a bribery scаndаl involving former U.S. Congressman William Jefferson.

This seven-bedroom, cream-colored, single-family brick house located at 9731 Sorrel Ave, Potomac, Maryland, was originally listed for $3.25 million on various online real estate websites on January 25, 2018. It was eventually sold for a pending offer of $2.95 million on February 26, 2018, following an online auction.

A pending offer signifies that a buyer and seller have reached an agreement, but the deal may still fall through if they cannot resolve issues like repair costs or secure a bank loan for the purchаse, although this is highly unlikely.

Atiku and his wife acquired the 7,131 square feet house in December 1999 for $1.75 million. Built in 1988, the house was described on Zillow as one of the finest properties in the upscale neighborhood of Falconhurst, Potomac, where homes are valued between $2 million and $10 million.

The Atiku mansion is a colonial-style building situated on a 2.3-acre property with lush green trees. The mansion boasts a total of 21 rooms, multiple terraces suitable for outdoor gatherings, a pool sauna, a gazebo, a gourmet kitchen, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Sources familiar with the state of the mansion, who wished to remain anonymous due to their desire not to be publicly associated with this story, mentioned that the Atikus had not lived in the mansion since the politician left the vice presidency in 2007.
